The Jim Toner Post-Secondary Scholarship
About the Jim Toner Post-Secondary Scholarship
Some teachers leave a mark that lasts a lifetime. For generations of Fairhill students, that teacher was Mr. Jim Toner.
From 1982 until his retirement, Mr. Toner dedicated himself to Fairhill School and to the students who walked through its doors. For young people with learning differences who had often struggled to find their footing, he offered something transformative: genuine belief in their potential. He saw what his students were capable of — and he gave them the tools and confidence to see it in themselves.
In his honor, the Golman family, along with alumni, former students, faculty, and the Toner family, have established the Jim Toner Post-Secondary Scholarship. Awarded annually to a graduating Fairhill senior, the scholarship recognizes a student who reflects the growth, resilience, and values that Mr. Toner inspired throughout his career — carrying his legacy forward, one student at a time.
