Allen ISD is one of the largest single-high-school districts in Texas. That scale means robust programs and strong facilities. It also means class sizes that make it difficult for students with learning differences to get the individualized attention they need.
Fairhill School is located at 16150 Preston Road, Dallas, TX 75248, about 25-30 minutes south of Twin Creeks. We serve students in grades 1 through 12 with dyslexia, ADHD, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and auditory processing disorder.
Worth the Drive from Allen
Allen ISD has caring teachers and active parent involvement. What it does not have is a school designed from the ground up for students with learning differences. In Allen, a student with dyslexia or ADHD receives accommodations within a system built for neurotypical learners. At Fairhill, the system itself was built for them.
Allen ISD teachers are trained in general education with some accommodations knowledge. Fairhill teachers specialize in learning differences. Seventy percent hold advanced degrees in the field. They average 12-15 years of tenure. At Fairhill, your child is not one of a few students with a 504 plan in a class of 30. Every student has a learning difference. There is no social cost to learning differently.
Every classroom, every day. Teachers know your child by name and catch struggles before they become failures.
Our graduates arrive at college knowing how they learn, what they need, and how to advocate for themselves.
Since 1971. 70% of faculty hold advanced degrees with 12-15 years average tenure teaching students with learning differences.
What Changes
Fairhill offers a 7:1 student-to-teacher ratio in every class, every day. A college preparatory curriculum produces a 100% college acceptance rate. Whole-child development includes self-advocacy, confidence, and executive function skills that prepare students for independence.
Twenty-five to thirty minutes is a real commute, and it is fair to ask whether it is worth it. Here is what Twin Creeks families tell us: after weeks of watching their child come home engaged instead of defeated, the question stopped being about distance. Several Allen families carpool together.
Fairhill is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, with credits fully transferable to other accredited schools and universities.
